Mi Casa is a story of family, of multi-generations dedicated to good food and festive times. Fifty-five years ago, Barrie Moore set up one of the first taco stands in Southern California called Taco Tio, and his family has been in the business ever since. For nearly 40 years, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant has served up hearty portions of Sonoran-style Mexican food to a devoted following. The restaurant has thrived thanks to the ever so tasty dishes, made only of the freshest ingredients. Thru the years, Mi Casa has been acknowledged as one of Orange County's finest Mexican Restaurants. It has been ranked near or at the top of numerous "Best Of" lists. Even the President of the USA has sat down and enjoyed the great food and salsa! Quality was established at the start and has continued to be the most important part of the Mi Casa recipe for success.
"Not many restaurants in Orange County have that claim to fame," says present day owner Rick Moore, Barrie's son.
Local residents have frequented the Hacienda-styled eatery over the years and now, those same children who raced about the restaurant and enjoyed hearty burritos, humongous tacos, and freshly made chips and salsa, have grown into adults who bring their own offspring through the doors.
"Mi Casa is all about good times and great food. Family is extremely important to us and we are so very proud to have a loyal and family driven following. It speaks for itself," says Moore. "It even carries over into the Mi Casa staff," he continues. "Some of my employees, including current head chef Abel Vega have been here since we opened our doors!"
Such dedication speaks to the admirable work environment while the packed house tells the tale of happy customers enjoying the fare.
"People come all the way from Los Angeles just for our chile verde and famous salsa!" says Moore.
All the food is made fresh daily, the salsa is piquant, and the sauces are authentic and delectable.
